Q: Does the new BMW 135i come with limited slip differential?
A: It’s an option – and definitely a worthwhile one.
Q: which car is better ? A Lexus IS350 or BMW 135i ? both new !?
I’m thinking about buying a new car and wanted a luxury/sporty type for under 30,000. It must have all the luxury standard stuff, be reliable, and have good quality.
A: It really depends upon what you’re looking for. Here’s a few categories you need to consider:
Comfort: The IS350 beats the I35i in this hands down. I test drove an IS250 once and it had so amazing features like cooled seats. I also preferred the softer Lexus’ seats over BMW’s. German cars usually have harder seats.
Reliability: There’s no denying that Lexus has the best track record in the world. Their Tahara Plant in Japan was ranked #1 many times over for quality control.
Practicality: One thing that’s turned me away from the new BMW 1-series is that they’re VERY small. If you’re someone like me who is 6′3″, that’s a major turn off. The 1-series is basically a sub-compact, while the IS350 is half-way between a compact to mid-sized.
Sportiness: Beemers win hands down in this market. They usually have sport suspension right out of the factory while Lexus has that as an optional extra. Also, Lexus doesn’t make manual trannys for their IS350, just the IS250 (and its uber hard to find anyways).
Looks: Again, the 1-series is a major turn off, at least in my opinion. It looks too much like a clown car. It’s too short and fat. From a side profile, it almost looks like a Prius. The IS350 looks much sexier and aggressive (again, in my opinion).
In the end, I would suggest you do the most obvious choice and test drive both cars to get a real feel of the pros and cons of each. All this is on paper, but I always tell my friends you got to drive it in real life to actually see what its like.
Q: How exactly does the BMW Steptronic work?
I am looking into the new 2008 BMW 135i. But I’m a little confused with the steptronic transmission. With the steptronic transmission option, is the car at all like a manual car (i.e clutch, manual shifting without using the steering wheel)? My friend had a 2003 BMW 330Li that was an automatic, but had the Tiptronic so he COULD shift manually if he wanted to. Is the new BMW 135i going to be an automatic first, manual second? I want a standard manual car with the OPTION to use the steering wheel to shift (without the clutch), but I want it to be a manual car First. And what is the difference between Tiptronic and Steptronic? Thanks.
A: First of all Steptronic IS the automatic. You merely “row” through the automatic gears. It will hold the car in first (or any other gear) for as long as you want until you push/pull the gear shift into the next gear. Almost all automatic cars have this feature in one shape or form.
BMW has BASICALLY two manual type transmissions. One is the common manual where you have to depress a clutch, grab a shift lever, move the lever and let the clutch back up.
The other type is SMG (or sequential manual gearbox). It IS a true manual transmission with clutch, gears, etc. However the drive does NOT have to press on a clutch pedal (which is non-existant on an SMG). Moving one of the two paddle shifters on the steering wheel will automatically trigger servos that disengage/engage the clutch.
SMG was developed from Formula 1 racing.
Once again, Steptronic is an automatic transmission that you either leave in auto mode or “play like you have a manual transmission”. SMG is a true manual transmission.
If anyone doubts this, Google SMG or go to a BMW website or any other car manufacturer that has their varient of SMG.
Q: Which is the best new car for a 16 year old, Lexus IS350, BMW 135i, or Merceds C350?
Which is the most reliable, the most fun, and the most bang for the buck?
A: Lucky 16 year old, but anyways. I’ve owned a Lexus ES300 and it had 241000 miles when I bought it and it ran and drove like a champ and is still on the road today with a different owner, I’d guess 275k on it now. I also worked at a lexus dealership detailing them and they really are great cars reliability wise. The BMW is probably going to be the most fun car to drive, and the best handling and basically a enthusiast/drivers car. I’ve owned several bmw’s now and reliability is sub par to lexus. The new mercedes just came out, so it may have a majority of problems since its a brand new body style, they have to work out the glitches. Mercedes in general, the quality has really gone down the drain. You can look online anywhere (I recommend www.epinions.com) for peoples reviews of the cars. It depends on the driver with the Lexus and the BMW. Two doors for the 1 series is kind of a pain if you like to carry people around with you, but I think it is a bit better looking than the IS. Good luck with your decision!
Q: I going to get a new bmw. Should I get a 335i coupe now, or should i wait and get a 135i?
A: Definitly the 335i!! Although they havent released the 1 series and therefore i havent seen one in real, i have seen the 335, and it is a beauful car. The front is one thing, but the rear is truly amazing. The 1 series also looks a tad small, and I would much rather have a big turbo-charged 335i, than a compact fuel efficient 135i.
You also have to realise that the 3 series has been in development for a long time so more bugs will be fixed out. And although many will argue that the 1 series is based on a similar platform, the point is that the 3 series is pretty legendary, something you couldnt boast about in a pokey 1 series.
Q: Should I get a nissan 370z or a bmw 135i?
I’m getting a new car soon but I’m not sure if I should get a Nissan 370z or a BMW 135i. Which one would you get and why?
A: the 370 z is by far faster because of it 3.7 v6 with i think its 280hp and it weighs almost nothing making it go from 0-60 in 5 secs, also the transmission was re designed with the sincro rev mechanism making it even faster and easier to drive if you choose the manual, and the inside is absolutely amazing with bose spakers and the navi sistem the car is just BA, but the bmw has back seats so that makes it more useful for the purpose of transportation
Q: BMW 135i transmission styles and colours?
I’m looking at getting the new 135i (2009) black with red interior, any suggestions on this combo?
I’m also upset because I won’t be the only one driving it, there will also be another guy driving it sometimes as well as friends so I’m feeling I should get an automatic transmission with paddle shifters (the steptronic tranny). I would like to learn manual myself but then if someone else has to drive my car they won’t know what to do. I’ve also heard that a turbo needs high RPMs to spool up and work well and automatic transmissions don’t rev high enough to satisfy the twin turbos.
A: The auto is fine with the car, in fact, it is only a tenth of a second slower than the manual. If you are buying the car, Why in the world would you care if others know how to drive it? Why in the world would you let others drive it? You buy a car for yourself and your spouse or significant other, not for friends.
The 135i in either jet black or sapphire with the coral red leather is awesome. You’ll need the premium or leather option, and definately get the sport package.
Q: Signed paperwork at BMW dealership, but something is not right, help!?
Okay, so I went to BMW dealership and wanted to do a trade in for a new BMW 135i, my car was valued at 21k and all seemed well. Then they did a credit check and said that I need a co-signer. I was pretty disappointed since I refuse to go that route. However, they said they could try to go through the higher ups and present the paperwork to BMW Financial but they would need me to sign the agreement that we had agreed to and then they would show it to BMW Financial and ultimately they would make the decision whether or not I can move forward without a co-sign. I was assured that if I signed this particular document that I was not obligated to buy the car, that the paperwork was necessary in order to check to see if I would get approved w/o co-sign. However, I’m just now paranoid that I signed it and will be forced to buy the car. I did not drive off w the car and at the moment I am not sure if I will get approved. I just don’t want to be forced to buy the car when I was told that the document is just to check if I will get approved. I don’t plan on getting the car, need to make sure I’m not legally obligated to buy the car. I DID NOT take delivery of the car and I did not drive it off the lot (other then test drive prior to signing that piece of paper). I do not want to get this car and I feel like I may have been tricked into signing something that will force me to come back and buy the car. Sorry for my ignorance
My father gave me the car, the title is still under his name. However, he said to go look for a car that I feel that I would like. The only thing I did sign is that I don’t want the car if the insurance is over 212. Which is how much I am paying for my current insurance. I really don’t want to be suckered into being forced to buy it……I was under impression that signing this paper meant they would check to see if I can get approved, not that I actually bought the car. I don’t even have the car…I drove home in my own car and was told they would call me the next day to see if I was approved or not. I told them I didn’t want to sign any paperwork but they said they couldn’t ask the BMW financial people unless I had signed the document showing the numbers we had agreed on.
A: let me give you a heads up, first of all, all dealers have banks and finance companies, that give them a fee for doing business with them. since your credit was not good enough, and it required a co signer, (actually, had you had a co signer, this could have gotten you a much better interest rate) since you burned that option, now dealers are checking their other lenders, who sometimes take on, higher risks, however this ALWAYS MEANS HIGHER INTEREST FOR YOU IN THE LONG RUN.
since you have not taken delivery, and you still have your car and title, its doubtful you have a purchasing agreement in place. What you signed should have been an authorization to do a credit check, this is something that so many car dealer abused (people would go for a test drive, and the dealer would make a copy of the drivers license, and then do credit checks on EVERYBODY WHO CAME JUST FOR A TEST DRIVE) this is now illegal and they have to have a signed statement by you saying you authorized the credit check, or risk a heavy fine.
and food for thought, even if you are offered a higher interest rate than you like, If you pay the principal down as fast as possible, you can save a ton of money on interest. no contracts I have ever seen have an exclusion for this, but it pays to read the contract carefully.
If the dealership usual lenders have denied you, then more likely than not, the interest rate you are offered may have you pooping your pants. best of luck, do some research, a co signer with excellent credit can get you a small interest rate most of the time.
Q: bmw 135i vs dodge challenger?
so,, i was looking at the bmw 135i,, and i was amazed by the beauty and insight of the car,,,
then i asked myself why is this car so perfect,,,
the answer is simple,, its not because it a bmw,, its because this car has everything and more,,,
is was the attention to detail,,, its small and hard hitting,, and simple,, and the interior is very simple… and the sterring wheel is wonderful
its like the old datsun 510 or forst escort mk1,,, is just very simple yet hard hitting,, pur perfection,
then i looked at the new challenger,, THIS CAR COULD HAVE BEEN OF OF THE BEST EVER MADE,, SO WHATS WRONG WITH IT
Well its the simple things
1st iF u look at it,, its clear its too larger,, its too long and too heavy and to wide,,,,
2nd…. the sterring wheel is very bad,,
if the challenger was a foot shorter, a foot slimer and had a beautiful thick sterring wheel,, it could have been the best mid value sporsts car on the market,
but thats the probelm with amercan cars,,, they dont compete with imports
AND DONT GIVE ME THAT,, THE CHALLENGER IS MADE TO BE LARGER,, BS,,,
DODGE DROPED THE BAll,,
PS,, I ONLY OWN AMERICAN CARS,,
but if americans want to last,, they need to think outside the box,,
who agrees
A: i agree with you to an extent yes america right now cannot compete with imports due to cost, big gas guzzling engines, and not built like they used to be and yes gas is the lowest its been in a decade but the prices on cars today are skyrocketing to over $100,000 but in reality its not worth as much as they think it is. america also sends their factories from detroit to canada, europe, and mexico which doesnt make them much american anymore. america has to ask themselves if asia ships their cars to the U.S. and we buy them like crazy what do they do when we ship american cars to them do they buy them also maybe not as much as we expect them to. if america expects to compete they need to drop prices on their cars make them alittle less gas consuming and bring their factories back to the U.S then people can have a job to afford them. i always had a prophecy if cars we made in america like they were in the 50s and 60s, gas stays were its at now, and you got to remember cars cost back then at $1,900 to $5,000 tops imports wouldnt stand a chance let alone last very long because the cars in america back then were built better also and didnt come with all the unecessary gadgets suchs as navigation systems, and self reverse which causes cars today to have booming prices. a car is made for transportation not a big toy.
Q: What’s the best DATE CAR ? ( A BMW 135i, or a RAV4 Sport ??)?
I’m 42 years old and my Toyota Corolla is 10 years old.
I can afford anything up to $80,000 price.
My engineer friend just bought a new $65,000 White Mercedes because he says that you’ve got to impress the women these days if you ever hope to ever have a chance of getting a date with them, and a flashy car is one of the best ways.
I was pondering on whether to buy a new 2009 Toyota Matrix or a rocketship V6 RAV4 Sport (0-60 in 6.2 seconds). My friend told me to shop instead for perhaps a BMW 135i (also with 300 hp), or perhaps a Nissan 350 Z. Problem is I live up here in Canada (the snow-belt), and the snow we get each year makes driving a 350 Z in the winter a bit stupid, that’s my reasoning for the RAV4 Sport. I don’t want a Land Rover or Mercedes or BMW because the reliability has been desmal lately. My friend already has had his in the shop 3 times for expensive repairs (and his love life still sucks!)
So, if you were a quiet, shy, but nice kind gentleman, what would you get?
A: A car is only one aspect of you, and (ideally), it should not be the reason a woman is dating you. By that criterion, you can get whichever car you like.
However, if you want a car that a girl likes to drive, I would recommend getting a Jagaur. They are stylish, but their electrical systems have a bad reputation.
If it were me, though, I would get a Toyota Avalon. Then you have the stylish features, plus the reliability that Toyota is known for, and you will seem shrewd to any potential dates to boot. Get one that’s slightly used, if possible, so you don’t take the huge hit to your wallet that you would if buying a new one.
Q: When does the 2009 BMW 135i come out? ?
Is it going to have a major image change? I don’t want the 08 model if the new one is going to be very different. Thanks
A: the 09′ models will be coming out around the next month and later in prep for next year, the 08 to 09’s wont change, as far as i know there aren’t any technical updates yet, we haven’t had that many issues to have needed any updates… the 08’s feature special writing around the start/stop button that says “year one of the one”… really that is the only thing i’ve seen different.
good luck
Q: Lexus IS250, BMW 135I, Audi TT, or Infiniti G37?
I’m buying a new car and am having trouble deciding which I should get.
I really love all of these looks wise.. but was wondering what other people thought about the overall car, like looks, performance, quality, etc.
Help?
A: I got you for sure. I have owned several bmw’s and currently own an infinit fx35 I would defently get the BMW for One the bmw’s value is outstanding 2 the ride is outstanding 3 Top Notch cars. the Infiiti is a great car but lots of factory problems http://www.infinitihelp.com/recalls/fx/2003.htm
just look up the car and you will see what I mean. not that alll cars don’t have a problem or two but i have had not a one out of the 5 BMW’s I owned (90-2006( 3 series and 5 series)
Q: Audi A5 or BMW 135i?
im going for performance and looks, i like em both because their both german, and new to the market…
which would u go for… any suggestions?
A: I would go with the Audi A5. Its looks are much better than the 135i and it has Quattro AWD which is safer and faster and has better traction.
I have driven almost all BMW and Audi models and they feel mostly the same to drive, but I prefer the looks and AWD of the Audi.
Q: Which car should i get?
I really want to lease a car…..i make about $600 monthly(only 17) and pocket about $480 of it..sometimes i can make up to $800 some months. i really am interested in the new bmw 135i coupe. my parents and grandparents are paying for some of the money down and all the insurence. i alway saw my eyes on the Ford mustang GT and NIssan 370z….after all i read the funniest and best car to drive is the bmw 135i any suggestions??
A: Nissan Maxima (Used)

Q: american car companies?
why do the american car companies, do thing things to there new cars that most will hate,, period,,
example
take the new challenger,,, its huge,, its nice,,, but its huge,, because of this simple fact,, it will never sell like it should,,
take the new camaro ,,, its very bad looking,, period,,
next,, why do american cars,,, have the worst worst worststeeringg wheels,,
if u take the new bmw 135i sterring wheel,, and compare it to any american car sterring wheel,, tis light years better,
its the simple things,,, like a excellent sterring wheel and a small size, car,
A: Americans will always be Americans. You continue have the same Detroit people trained by the same schools designing the same rubbish cars. The “American” cars that are actually designed by Europeans are really quite good. Look at the European version of the Ford Focus; look at the Ford Mondeo; look at the Opel Speedster/GT known in America as the Saturn Sky.
It all comes down to the people who design the cars and run the show, and the people who design cars and run the American “Big 3″ are rubbish, and they continue to be replaced with more fat, lazy …… you know.
