Q: Installing an ipod or iphone into a 2004 BMW 545i?
I just bought a 2004 BMW 545i and wanted to see what my options were to run my ipod or ipod part of my iphone through the idrive controls. I would like it to not affect the navigation and still have it displayed on the main screen in my car. Any ideas??
A: there is nothing available for that vehicle only 1995 to 2003 5 series and 2006 to 2008
the problem is the IDRIVE there is nothing compatible with the 04 and up IDRIVE system
Q: How do I get my Treo 700W Bluetooth to work with my 2005 BMW 545i?
I can get the phone to pair with my car and it recognizes it, even asked for the passkey which I created. The phone is recognized for about 1 minute, and then the connection is lost! Not sure what the heck is going on. I had the Treo 650 and the BT worked excellent with my BMW. What is the problem? Thanks!
A: I used to have that problem with my treo but rather with a headset. It paired perfectly at the beginning but after a few more seconds it wasn’t paired any more, so what i did was erease muy headset from my trusted diveces on my treo in this case you would want to delet your cars bluetooth of your treo and the other way around delet your treo from your car and redo the basic steps in the Hands-free assistant in your palm. If it does not work again be sure to chec if there isn’t a operating system download needed for your treo. you can check it out in Palm’s website.

A: Hi Oliver,
This prompt will show (normally in addition to the Engine Management/ Emissions light) when there is a problem with your engine/ engine management system, which is causing the engine to have an increase in the emissions which it is producing out of the exhaust.
For example you may have a misfire on one cylinder and therefore the emissions from that cylinder will be less than favourable due to the unburnt fuel entering the exhaust.
My advice would be to take it to the dealer and get them to carry out a diagnostic check on the BMW computer. They could then advise you of the repair required/costs involved. It could just be something simple like one of the coils failing, but best to get the faults read out to be sure.

Will installing the ipod adapter, give me another input in the logic 7 premium sound system. I must say the sound is the best I have ever heard inside a car. Also how hard is it to install this adapter for ipod.
A: You might want to check with the dealer to see if you’ll lose the CD changer by installing the iPod adapter. This is the case with the aftermarket adapters I’ve seen. They input thru the CD changer jack.
You could use a universal adapter such as this that plays thru the FM radio.

A: 545i is a little less powerful(333PS vs 344PS) but it has more torque(450NM vs 410NM) and better Gearing.Looking at official figures for 0-100km/h times it seems that Audi is a little faster to 60mph.According to road tests Audi is faster at higher speeds too.
In a simple street racing i think the S4 can beat the heavier 545i.
Apart from all of this, it is the driver which plays an important role in a drag race.

Have the car scanned at least with an obd2 code reader to find out the faults. Then update your question.

Q: Flooded BMW 545i need help to turn on?
My BMW 545i got flooded two days ago the water reached inside the car. I turned the car on once with cables to take it to my house. But now it doesn’t want to turn on anymore so I don’t know what to do. What can i do to try to fix my car and make it turn on. My key does not lock my car and my seats don’t work anymore. Can anyone please help?
A: This is not a DIY problem. Not even a good non-BMW mechanic can help you with this.
Bring it to a mechanic who works primarily on BMW’s. The battery must be detached from the car first of all. Then the car has to be aired and dried out in the sun. All connectors and control modules that had been reached by the water level should be disconnected and air sprayed into them. Preferably electronic cleaner should also be applied. I repeat, a non-BMW or or non-computer savvy person should not be allowed to touch this problem.
After drying comes the nasty part. Recharge the battery and re-install in the car. Then connect
the car to a GT1 diagnostic machine to see faults stored and also which control modules are not being recognized. Then corrections should be made as needed.
I am sorry to say that even control modules that did not get wet could belly up simply because it interacted with something that got wet.

A: I’d go with Garmin….Garmin is widely used in Aviation…Lots of Large Jets use Garmin for navigational purposes. Same manufacturer, but different type of navigation. If Pilots use it, then it HAS to be good…

The possibilities are endless depending on how much you have and/or are willing to spend.
Let me suggest you start here for the basics and then decide how much MORE you may or may not want?
JimC (Jim Conforti) has made some of the best stuff available for a BMW mod for great prices. I put then in my old 1995 325is and loved it! Zero problems EVER. I went with Dinan on my 2002 M3 and am happy with them as well.
