Q: How hard is it to find a 1987-1990 BMW M3?
How hard is it to find a 1987-1990 BMW M3? I have been looking online alot at used auto dealers and have never found one. Any ideas on where I can find one? Any tips or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.
A: These can be difficult.
Your best bet is to try the California ads. Not sure where you are but that is where you will find most.
Try LA or SF Craigslist and the online BuySell publications as well as the Times and other classified news papers.
Then try the enthusiast board’s/forum’s for sale sections. Roadfly, Bimmerboard, etc.
Expect to pay a premium as they are considered collectable now along with the Mercedes Benz 190E Evo I and Evo II.
Q: I am looking for a new battery for a 1997 BMW M3. Anyone know where I can buy one online?
A: The best price for a battery i’ve found is at Autozone. Ask for their Duralast 49-DL battery. They might not have this battery listed to fit in a BMW, but it is well known to be a perfect fit. The cost is about $70. This is much less than the BMW dealer price of $150-$200 for a replacement battery. The Duralast battery also has a higher CCA so is a better battery than the dealership replacements. Make sure you get the vent tube and hook it up as you don’t want acidic fumes in your trunk.

Q: Whats the difference between a 1996 BMW 328IS and 1996 M3?
I bought a 1996 328IS (thats what the dealer said it was anyways) awhile ago and the model numbers had been taken off the back. i recently noticed that the oil cap has the slashes followed by an M on it (///M) that u usually see on an M3. looking at pics online i cant tell any cosmetic differences between the two. whats the most distinguishing feature? thanks.
A: I just want to make sure I am understanding the question here. So you buy a 328IS and you think its an M3 because someone put and ///M logo filler cap on the car?
The fascia(bumpers, side skirts, etc.)on the car will be different, the engine will be different, the wheels will be different, the shifter will be different, the steering wheel will be different, the ///M colors (blue, red, purple) will incorporated into the car in different areas like the steering wheel, shifter, and seats, the car will say ///M3 in various locations, like the trim on the doors… etc.
Q: Bmw m3 46 Tuning Need for speed shift?
i have the Bmw m3 gtr works on shift but need to tune it for online play. The tires are slick and it slides alot. The top speed is 181 but can i get it to go higher. I need suspension,tire,steering,downforce, and gear ratio help.

Hello, I was just wondering. My dad just got me a used 2004 BMW M3 Automatic. I was reading about it online and it says something about the SMG. Is the SMG an additional add on for the car or was it standard for this vehicle? Also, if it is standard for the vehicle how would you drive it? Do I need to know a little bit about a manual car. Sorry, so many questions…please help! :’(
A: The SMG is the M3’s automatic. It’s a mix between auto and man. There’s no park, you have to put into N and pull the hand brake like a manual. But there is no clutch so you just push it forward to put it into R and pull it back and push it to the side for SD (sport drive) or MD (manual drive).

Q: Will a new M3 Steering wheel fit a BMW 335i coupe with sport package AND PADDLE SHIFTERS?
This is from a 2008 M3 manual car (ordered online through tuner motorsport.com). I have a BMW 335i coupe AUTOMATIC with sport package AND paddle shifters.. will it fit with paddle shifters? it says it will fit ALL 3 series of that year…
A: The steering wheel will fit yes, but I believe you will loose your steering wheel shifting capability. M3’s with a manual transmission do not have paddle shifters on the wheel and your wheel will not either. You may be able to retrofit the shifters onto the wheel and connect them, but it would be complicated and may not have the proper mounting points to securely fasten them to the new wheel.
Perhaps if you bought a wheel off a DCT equipped car you could retain the shifter capability.

I’m looking for a model car of my husband’s red 96 BMW M3. I was told that theM3 was the same style from 94 -99. I want a detailed model between $150 – $300 preferably.

A: the subaru is overall a faster and also better handling car. in general bmw’s (right up to the m series) are not terribly quick, but overall nice driving cars.

My boyfriend really likes the M3 and I saw the M3’s model catalogue online but i really want it in book or magazine version for christmas… and there’s also a bmw magazine. Where can I get any of those?

Q: Can someone please tell me what body kit this is for this E46 M3?
I was searching online for a body kit for my E46 M3 and came across this one, it looks amazing. I would like to purchase this for my car but I cannot seem to find the name of the kit. And if you also know what kind of wheels those are, please include that. I just want to know what kind of front fascia and side skirts are on the car, I can look for a bumper and deck lid. Our E46 M3s look fine, no need to rice it up with that shit. BTW if I see you E46M with a kit on it, I will key it.

Q: Can you place the front license plate in the windshield in Minnesota?
Hey, I recently bought a 1998 BMW M3 and it is my baby, the only problem is, the owner before me who lived in Iowa, never put the front plate on, and either do I. Now that i have my new Minnesota plates, I was wondering if placing the license plate on the windshield while the car was parked if that would be legal. I have searched online but i haven’t found any answers. Is there a special number i should call, or should i just call the DMV and ask? Anyways, thanks for your help
A: It isn’t legal anywhere. The plate has to be on while the car is driving, not just parked, and a plate in the windshield becomes a missile that can cut your head off in an accident. Go the dealer, or any large auto parts supply for a bracket to attach your front plate properly, just like the rest of us do.
Q: Does anyone know which child seat will fit my Bmw?
I am needing to know what car seats fit an 1995 bmw m3 saloon (all standard 3 series have the same set-up with the rear seatbelts). I cant seem to find a car seat that will fit in the back securely because of the direction the seatbelts go. I ordered a britax first class seat online but realised afterwards that it wasnt compatible. I went into my local car accessory dealer and they fitted the seat to see how it was and it was too loose. The seat was toppling over when you came against it. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do? Or do you have a bmw yourself. If so, what seat do you use? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

A: Ohh yes – I have an Audi, hubby a Volvo – we ended up with two seats! Try Halfords, or your main dealer.

Q: Snow tires, which ones, where to buy?
I am between buying an 08′ BMW M3 and a 2010 Camaro SS, both of which need snow tires to handle the Chicago winters. I can put wheels on myself, but should I get a set of wheels and tires from the dealership or buy my own(like online)? And also which would you recommend.
