Q: Used BMW on sale. Is it a good deal? What should I look out for?
Please see the offer here:

http://charlotte.craigslist.org/car/549391641.html

I want to contact the seller. What could the loop holes in the offer be? How much would I end up spending on maintenance every six months for such a car? What should I look out for when I go for a test drive?

Please help!

Thanks and lot!

A: Way too many miles on it i have 1995 325i with 80,100. and im thinking about selling it before it hits the big 100,000. There are a lot of problems that could go wrong with the car if not properly maintained. They are fairly heavy cars with a 2.5 I6 dohc. Performance work done to the car is not really worth anything except to the manufactures of the parts. Do some research and you could find a better bmw with less miles. A certified bmw dealer/service center will charge around $130/hr just for labor. Assuming that this is a 95 check this link. http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Reliability.aspx?year=1995&make=BMW&model=3-Series&trimid=-1 You can also find other years on there. Also if you decide to sink your money into that make sure you study http://www.bimmerdiy.com/

Q: Should I consider buying a used BMW?
I just found a automatic BMW 1 series 130i used for sale.

I would like some advice to know if the car is worth the purchase.
Ok here are some info:
- model year 2007
- Has 52000km on it
- full service history
- 6 speed Automatic transmission (with flappy paddles on steering wheel)
- one owner
- always garaged
- rear sensor.

Is 52000km to much for a used BMW and also will problems start to appear since its done that much mileage??
Will there be the need for many part repairs/change?

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.deep-ice.com

Q: used x5 bmw truck for sale?

A: Try ebay motors. http://www.motors.ebay.com/

Q: Does anyone know were i can get a 2001 bmw m3 gtr for sale? ( not used if possible)?

A: Of course is going to be used!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Q: how much should i pay for this used bmw?
i am buying a 2004 bmw 745li and its for sale for $27,500. it has under 60K miles on it and has warranty up until 100K miles. The man said it is spotless and we are going later this week to see it. It is also a MUST SELL vehicle. I would like to get the price lowered…how should i go about doing that?
Thank you so much

A: Do comparative analysis at sites like craigslist, cars.com, autotrader.com, etc

A: www.autotrader.com

Q: Where can I buy a BMW F 650 CS Scarver bike?
I really love this model of bike and I can’t find where to buy it online it would be great if someone could tell me if there is a dealer in ether Washington, Alaska, Georgia, or Florida that has it for sale. Used is fine.

A: well, I was gonna suggest going to a BMW dealership and asking them. sometimes they have connections that no one else does for particular BMW models. I am presuming that you have done a websearch for this specific model?

Q: With the new BMW 335i coupe coming out this spring, will there be more 2008-09 used 335i coupes for sale?

A: New models do not necessarily mean more used inventory, most of the cars are leased, so you’ll continue to have the 07’s coming off.

You won’t start to see a good inventory of 08’s until late summer. Most people don’t trade in their cars just because the car is getting freshened.

Q: Used car purchase: Audi vs Dodge (longevity is good?) Automobile buy repair sales bmw benz mustang ford?
I have heard good things about Audi longevity, many can last until 100k miles.
What about Dodge? I am planning to buy either a used Audi or Dodge Magnum, but will a Dodge hold up well past the 50,000 mile point? I have also heard that the Dodge Durango is bad for longevity but that is a SUV unlike the sedan Dodge Magnum.

A: I don’t know if I’ve ever heard anybody refer to any recent Audi as “reliable”.

I have many clients with Durango/Dakotas that are well past 150,000 miles.

Every Audi I have ever seen with over 120,000 miles has a LOT of valvetrain noise. Audi-philes defend their car’s capabilities but they don’t deny the clatter.

The Magnum is made up of various E and S-Class Mercedes bits. Those parts should be at least as good as any Audi. I hate the 2.7 V6 in anything Chrysler makes and don’t recommend it at all. It has(had) a sludging problem, the water pump is nearly impossible to access and it’s just too damn small for a big wagon.
The 3.5 is a little better. The 5.7 is a lot better

Q: Should I purchase a used 2004 BMW 325 for $13000?
The car has 46000 miles on it….for sale for 13K. Is it a reliable car? Is it worth the price for the performance? The car looks like it is in good condition, clean title and I was planning to get it inspected. Thoughts?

A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: i have a 1982 bmw 320i and am wondering how much i could sell the car for?
i am the third owner, all owners non smokers, i have all the maintenance records from all the owners, and everything was profesionally done. the odometer reads 87xxx but there is around 100 000 the interior is in great condition minus a small tear in the shifter leather , but the outside has rust over the wheel well, and by the taillights , and a small blister the size of a dime on the hood
all of the following were replaced:
new water pump
new clutch
all new dashboard lights, and a new hazard button and switch
new fog lights, new front struts and springs
new electrical wiring
new flywheel
new oil filter
new tie rod
i think thats it

non smoker
i tried kbb but it doesn’t go back far enough in years, and i cant find any used bmw models like this for sale

i want to sell , but want to know if i can get close to 2000

thank you
also it is a four cylinder 5 speed manual and it drives great, oil changes have been regualr, and there are new brakes

A: It’s a 26 year old vehicle, so there is no ’set’ price on it. So it depends on what YOU think it’s worth. Apparently that is $2,000. Set that price on it, if the consumer public agrees it’s worth that, you will get your asking price. If no one seems interested, you can always drop it slightly and try again.

Q: What is a better used car ‘06 BMW M5 or ‘07 Audi RS4?
The prices are about the same right now and there are quite a few of both supercars offered for sale. I love the beastly 507hp M5 Ferrari killer; but the 420hp RS4 is no dog – lighter and Quattro awd is nice for winter in Long Island. I’m torn.

A: Great problem to have. I love the 06 M5, the wheels on it alone make me drool. Audi is also great. it all comes down to whether you want that snob value or that understated power? I would go with the snob value of the m5.

Q: How come i never see a bentley arnage on the road or in parking lots. I always see Mercedes S class & Bmw 7’s?
If i had 80k to splurge on a car i would buy a 2004 or 05 bentley arnage. Everyone on the road would turn their heads to stare at my car. There are many used arnages for sale and they are much flashier, and more powerful than benzes or bimmers. Why drive a benz when you can drive a bentley?

A: That is true especially with BMWs. It feels like 90% of the people buy it because of its reputation as a cool car but there are definitely better more affordable luxury cars, Infiniti M35x is in the price range of a BMW 3 series yet it has better interior, more powerful engine, and way better technology then BMW 5 series yet people hardly even know there is a car called Infiniti M35….all you see and here about is BMW and Mercedez

Q: Need help buying a BMW 850?
Hi. Im considering purchasing a used BMW 850 series. Most cars for sale have around 100,000-150,000 miles. I would like help in figuring out what most likely needs to be replaced at this age, assuming no major work has been some to the car. What are the most dos to restore a car like this? Tranny replace, Water Pump? ect. What can I expect to pay annually to maintain the car? How many miles can I get out of an 850 on the original engine? Thanks!

A: I have no experience with the 8 series, I’d like to own one one day, but have a little in the way of E36 BMWs.

I’d carefully look at the suspension and transmission smoothness. Look at the engine oil, engine compartment, how it shifts when driving, is it hard shifts, anything vibrate, any leaks, tranny slipping after its warmed up and driven a bit, etc.

Parts that should be looked at for replacement – tranny, engine mounts, tranny oil, radiator and hoses, thermostat, cooling system down to the back of the engine firewall, etc. Look at body irregularities. And I know this will sound funny, but get down a bit and really LOOK at the car, look at the trim, the body, take your time, really look for minor details that may reveal body work. Same with the engine area, just really look at everything closely.

And of course – maintenance history. Hows it look? Are the rims abused? That means they’ve been using it to practice burn outs or power slides and hit curves. How grippy is the hand brake? Does it seem worn? Like it doesnt hold the car while in drive? That means burn out wear and douche driving abuse.

Interior, is it clean? Also take a slow look, under seats, spills, dirt… if the person is filthy, they are irresponsible and did not appreciate the car which is a sign they didnt maintain the car properly.

If there Angel Eyes installed or clears on the side instead of amber lights – you can be sure the owner didnt get the car serviced correctly and was cheap. Unless, they really are mature enthusiasts, but its a sign of poser-ism.

Good luck!

Q: BMW Mini used car warranty?
Hi there.

Just to fill you in, I bought a July 05 plate mini a few weeks ago, it was a private sale. It is absolutely stunning and drives lovely, except one thing. In 1-2nd gears I get a knocking noise from the front near side. Also when going over bumps, but mainly if I’m going up and out of second gear. I’s like clunking kind of noise, when I’m going along nicely though it’s a lovely smooth ride.

Anyway, theres the picture. So next week I have booked it in for a clunk check. I hve 2 years left on TLC package and the dealer says I have used car warranty till Jan 09. The previous owner bought it in jan 08 from a BMW dealer so I’m assuming this used car warranty stays with the car like the TLC package? If they find something expensive wrong would it be covered under used car warranty. Any ideas anyone as to what it does cover?

Many many thanks,

A: you would have to look at the policy. Mini in the U.S. does not offer a used car policy unless it’s bought from a dealer under the mini next cpo program. Any other used car warranty would be an aftermarket outside warranty and may not be valid at all dealers.
